Women’s Residential Drug & Alcohol Program

Sunrise Recovery Ranch offers high-quality drug & alcohol programs in Riverside, CA. To best serve our clients, Sunrise also provides female-specific treatment programming at Sunrise’s main campus in Southern California.

Addiction Treatment Program Designed for Women

At Sunrise Recovery Ranch, we understand that addiction impacts women differently than it does men, and that women also face unique challenges during treatment and in early recovery. To ensure that we achieve our mission of providing the highest quality of care in a patient-specific manner, we have developed programming to ensure that our female clients have a safe, structured, and supportive environment in which to address issues that would be uncomfortable or counterproductive to discuss in a mixed-gender setting.

As is also the case with our Men’s Program, the Women’s Program is just one part of the complete residential treatment experience at Sunrise Recovery Ranch. In addition to the gender-specific opportunities within the Women’s Program, treatment at Sunrise Recovery Ranch also features a number of mixed-gender therapeutic groups and activities that involve all clients.

The unfortunate reality is that many women who have abused or become addicted to alcohol, cocaine, heroin, stimulants, or prescription painkillers have also experienced domestic violence, assault, or other forms of trauma. Whether or not this trauma has led to the development of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), it is important to a woman’s continued health and recovery that she has an opportunity to process the emotions, reactions, and other psychological repercussions that resulted from the trauma. Unresolved trauma can be a significant obstacle on the path of recovery, and the Women’s Program provides an opportunity for women to share their stories, express their feelings, and learn from the experiences of other female clients.

Other issues that may impact women in recovery include codependency, parenting, self-esteem, guilt, shame, grief, and loss. While these issues are not exclusive to women in recovery, we understand that addressing them in a mixed-gender setting may preclude some women from receiving the full benefit of the therapeutic experience.

Program Overview

At Sunrise Recovery Ranch, our ultimate objective is to ensure that each person who chooses to heal with us receives the type and level of care that will best prepare him or her to achieve and maintain long-term recovery. With the Women’s Program, we are confident that we have taken a significant step toward meeting this objective and providing female clients with a unique, dynamic, and highly effective opportunity to deal with issues that, if left unaddressed, would undermine their efforts to live healthier and more satisfying lives.

The Women’s Program provides groups, educational lectures, and other activities to address these and related issues under the guidance of specially trained and highly compassionate treatment professionals.

The gender specific groups and activities of the Women’s Program reflect the unique issues that women face when they are first getting sober. Our highly trained counselors and group facilitators provide lectures, one-on-one counseling sessions, and 12-Step meetings.

Our setting in the Southern California foothills is an inspirational one. Outdoor activities will be integrated into the treatment process daily, and the fresh air is invigorating and conducive to rebuilding strength.

Sunrise can provide an initial detox in a safe and comfortable setting. A 30-day (recommended) stay in the residential treatment program will be followed by a lower level of care either with us, or closer to home.

The entire clinical staff of Sunrise meets daily to discuss the progress of each individual client and how to best proceed in helping her live a fulfilling and addiction free life.
